Y Strainers (or "Wye Strainers") mechanically remove debris in pipeline with a cylindrical straining element, often called a screen. They can be placed in horizontal or vertical pipelines (downward only) and require regular cleaning of the screen for proper operation.
Features of Titan Y Strainers
- All Titan Cast Iron and Carbon Steel strainers are epoxy painted providing an increased resistance to rust and corrosion.
- Hex ends on threaded units allow for quick and easy installation.
- Finer filtrations are possible with precision machined screen seats in both the body and the cap. This also helps to ensure proper alignment during assembly.
- Encapsulated gaskets extend the life of the gaskets and aid in preventing a gasket blowout.
- Large strainer bodies provide a large open area ratio that minimizes pressure drop.
- Drain/Blow-off plugs are provided at no additional cost on applicable models. Blow-off valves can be installed in-house to enable self-cleaning and reduce maintenance time at the job site.
- Numerous straining element options are available (perforation, mesh, and material) and Titan can quickly provide replacements when needed.
- Enhanced Design: Improved 45° Y angle provides stronger castings, thus eliminating field problems - The new ductile iron material offers excellent long term abrasion and wear resistance, better suited for elevated temperatures per ASTM A395
- Precision Machined Seats: Precision machined screen seats in both the body and cap help to ensure accurate positioning for the screen during reassembly after cleaning - Also, the machined body seats enable finer filtration by preventing debris bypass
- Self Cleaning Capability: With a tapped NPT blow-off connection this unit can be fitted with a blow-down valve which facilitates cleaning of the straining element
- Epoxy Painted: All units are epoxy painted to help resist rust and corrosion
- Threaded Cap: Titan's YS12 has straight threads to permit easy cap removal for cleaning and proper alignment when reassembling strainer
- Natural Gas and Other Special Applications: Titan has extensively tested the YS12 in gas applications and has determined that Nitrile Rubber gaskets provide superb sealing capabilities for the service - Please call if a special gasket or screen is required for your application
